Truepill respects your privacy

Truepill, Inc. ("Truepill", “Us”, “Our”, "We") provide this Privacy Policy to describe our practices in relation to personal information we collect from you through truepill.com (the “Website”) and through offline means, such as when you interact with us on the phone or at in-person events (together with the Website, the “Services”).  

This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal information we collect on behalf of our business customers, such as through our APIs that our business customers integrate into their online services, or to online services that we maintain but do not link to this Privacy Policy, such as our online careers portal.  

If you are a business customer, we may collect additional information, which is subject to a separate agreement you have entered into with us. 

This Privacy Policy also does not apply to our practices related to protected health information, as defined by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), which is covered by our separate Notice of HIPAA Privacy Practices

This Privacy Policy describes our current practices and our practices for the 12 months preceding the “Last Updated” date.

Personal Information We Collect About You and How We Collect It

Personal information is information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with you. 

We collect personal information directly from you (such as when you fill out a webform), through cookies and similar technologies when you interact with the Website, or from other parties such as our vendors, marketing partners, or business partners.

Depending on your interactions with us, we collect the following categories of personal information: 

  • ‍Identifiers (such as name, postal address, and email address)
  • Personal records (such as signature and telephone number)
  • Commercial information (such as products or services purchased, obtained, or considered, or other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies)
  • Internet or other electronic network activity information (such as IP address, browsing history, search history, and Website or advertisement interactions)
  • Geolocation data (such as approximate location)
  • Audio, electronic, visual, or similar information (such as audio recordings of customer service calls and event photos)
  • Professional or employment‐related information (such as employer and company contact information)
  • Inferences (such as those drawn from any information described above to create a profile reflecting preferences, characteristics, behavior, and attitudes)

Cookies and Similar Technologies 

We, and our vendors, may use cookies, pixels, beacons, and other similar technologies on certain webpages and locations on the Website to collect information through the Website, such as IP addresses, pages visited, searches performed, device types, interactions (such as scrolls, clicks, and mouse movements), and browser information.

These technologies help achieve various purposes, such as enabling certain features of the Website to function and providing us analytics that can be used to improve the Services, and for marketing purposes.

For example, we may use Google Analytics, including to implement Google advertising features. Please note that we or other parties may collect personal information about your online activities over time and across different devices and online properties when you use the Website.

Your web browser may have settings that allow you block or disable some of these technologies. Additionally, your web browser may have a “Do Not Track” setting. The Website is not designed to respond to “Do Not Track” web browser settings.  

We are not responsible for the opt out or settings tools provided by third parties, including their functionality. 

Purposes for Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Personal Information 

We collect, use, and disclose (such as to our subsidiaries and affiliates, vendors, business partners, marketing partners, and other third parties) personal information for the following purposes:

  • To provide our products and services, including those that you request from us
  • To communicate with you, including for customer service purposes
  • For marketing purposes, including sending promotional communications and conducting marketing campaigns across the internet, including auditing ad impressions
  • For debugging, identifying repair errors, and supporting functionality
  • Undertaking internal research for development of our services
  • Conducting activities to maintain the quality and safety of, improve, upgrade, and enhance services we provide
  • To carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from our terms or any contracts entered into
  • To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request
  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Truepill, our customers, or others, including the prevention of fraud, risk mitigation, and ensuring security and integrity
  • In relation to a business transaction, such as a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of Truepill's assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by Truepill is among the assets transferred
  • For any other purpose at your direction

Marketing Emails

If you receive promotional emails from us, you may opt out by following the instructions in the email or sending us an email stating your request to privacy@truepill.com. We may continue to send transactional emails.‍

Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have certain rights to the personal information that we have collected about you, and you may exercise those rights independently or through an authorized agent. Your privacy rights are described below. 

Right to Know: You have the right to know about your personal information. You also have the right to obtain a transportable copy of your personal information. Your right to know request may be made no more than twice in a 12-month period.

Your right to know request may encapsulate the following:

  • The categories of personal information we have collected about you;
  • The categories of sources from which the personal information was collected;
  • Our business or commercial purposes for collecting, selling, or sharing (for cross-context behavioral advertising) your personal information;
  • The categories of third parties to which we disclosed your personal information;
  • The categories of personal information we sold or shared (for cross-context behavioral advertising) about you and the categories of third parties to which each category of personal information was sold or shared;
  • The categories of personal information we disclosed about you for a business purpose and the categories of persons to which it was disclosed; or
  • The specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.

Right to Correct Personal Information: You may request that we correct personal information that we maintain about you if you believe such information is inaccurate.

Right to Request Deletion of Personal Information: You may request that we delete your personal information that we have collected directly from you and are currently maintaining.

Opt Out Rights: We do not sell or share for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes personal information outside of the context of cookies and similar technologies or where we provide marketing lead lists to vendors for advertising purposes.

To opt out of the sale and sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes through cookies and similar technologies related to the Websites, click on the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link at the footer of the Website to open the Cookie Preferences tool. How to Exercise the Rights Above: You may exercise your rights described above by using our webform linked here or emailing us at privacy@truepill.com.

We will comply with your request as soon as reasonably practicable. Requests to exercise your rights may be granted in whole, in part, or not at all, depending on the scope and nature of the request and applicable law. To prevent unauthorized requests related to your personal information, we take steps to verify that you are the person that is the subject of the request. Following verification of your identity, we will notify you if we are able to fulfill your request. If we are unable to fulfill your request, we will outline the reasons we are unable to honor your request at this time. Note that we may maintain certain information as required or permitted by law and/or subject to your interactions with us. For example, if you reengage with us, we may collect your personal information even if we had previously removed it from our systems at your request.

Shine the Light: Separate from the rights described above, if you are a California resident, you may request information on our disclosing of certain types of personal information with other parties, including affiliates, for the other parties’ own direct marketing purposes. You may make this request by emailing us at privacy@truepill.com. Any such request must include California Privacy Rights Request in the first line of the description and include your name, street address, city, state, and ZIP code. 

We will not discriminate against you, including retaliation, if you choose to exercise any of your privacy rights under California law.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the personal information we obtain from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. We cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted through the Website. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy, data security, or technology-related related to the Website.

Website Visitors from Outside the United States

If you are visiting the Website from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. The data protection and other laws of the United States might be different than those in your jurisdiction. 

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.  If we make material changes we will notify you through a notice on the Website home page. The date the Privacy Policy was last updated is identified at the top of the page. ‍
